Ms. Betsy Keys Farrell
The globalisation of human rights has resulted in the increased integration of international human rights norms into domestic legal systems. Consequently, justice is better served by a coordinated network of actors who possess specialised expertise and knowledge of the domestic milieu as well as international norms and universally accepted human rights standards.
Adjunct Lecturer
Betsy Keys Farrell is a qualified Solicitor and Attorney-at-Law. In addition to Ireland, she is admitted to practice in California, South Carolina and the Federated States of Micronesia where she specialised in Public Interest Litigation, Constitutional Law, Social Welfare and Elder Law.
In Ireland, she worked as a Solicitor for the Irish Human Rights Commission and acted for the Commission in litigation matters involving human rights issues, including the Commission’s appearances as amicus curiae.
She is a member of the Human Rights Committee of the Law Society of Ireland. Her research interests include comparative Constitutional and Human Rights Law, Public Interest Litigation, and Access to Justice.
